OCTOBER 2010
- Here are the details for 10.10.10
Over 1 year ago (way back in October of 2009) I decided to throw a series of showcases at The Artists Quarter on the first Sunday of each calendar quarter (because I liked the binary nature of the first & fourth quarter dates). The original dates were: 01.10.10, 04.04.10, 07.04.10, & 10.10.10. The showcase in January was a huge success. We had over 15 of the best artists in the business throw down. The lineup included: Danami, DJ Snuggles, eg bailey, Heatherlyn, HYPEL, Justin Johnson, Maria Isa, Mike Dreams, Palabristas, Shá Cage, Tish Jones, Twin Kingz, Brandon Allday of Big Quarters, and Emmanuel (E-Man of youthrive: LIVE!).
This past June during the Amplified Life x Freedom School summer school project at Stadium View, PC (Paul Collier) and I were working at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center, and PC began sharing his ideas for a unique type of show featuring a carefully selected sound bed of choice Hip Hop music and rare grooves to provide an alternative to the typical nightlife, which neither of us are impressed by, or participate in. We wanted to put together an event that WE would actually go to. That same week I was approached to stage-manage an event for the Children’s Defense Fund on the same date, 10.10.10. The CDF is planning to have 10,000 people gather on the grounds of the MN State Capital the same day: 10.10.10. Thus the concept for 10.10.10 was born, a party, an alternative to the typical nightlife, and the official after party for The Children’s Defense Fund.
The daytime CDF event will feature Senator Al Franken, Senator Amy Klobuchar, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak, Gubernatorial Candidates Dayton & Horner, the DFY Youth Choir, youthrive: LIVE! cofounder Mike Dreams, CDF Founder Marian Wright Edelman and a keynote by the legendary Garrison Keillor.
Thanks,
– Amplified Life

JANUARY 2010
- First Annual Amplified Life Showcase in January 2010
There are a few dates booked for the calendar year, the first sunday of each quarter, and it just so happens that my birthday falls on the first. So I’m doing a small, intimate, but exciting gathering of people for this first one… some will be familiar faces and others will be new. But it is my hope to get as many people as possible, in the same room so we can all help each other “network”. Remember that word?
